Woman Who Tore Her Husband’s Passport at Lagos Airport Speaks Out
Mrs. Igiebor, the Nigerian woman who went viral on August 11, 2023, after she was caught on camera tearing her husband’s passport at Lagos airport, has finally spoken out.
In a video posted on TikTok, Mrs. Igiebor explained that her husband has been causing her significant distress in Italy, where they reside, which has taken a toll on her health. She admitted that she tore his passport to prevent him from leaving Nigeria.
“I’ve seen a lot of comments, people insulting me, even from other women who don’t understand. I know I wasn’t supposed to do what I did. That’s why so many people are upset with me. Why would I tear his passport? It’s against Nigerian law. I know that. To the Nigerian Immigration, I’m very sorry. I did it to stop my husband from going back because I’ve seen so many things. I’ve been through pain—pain that causes me heartache, pain that gives me headaches in the middle of my head. You don’t know what I’m going through.”
The Nigeria Immigration Service has launched an investigation into the incident, and if she’s found guilty, she will face the appropriate legal consequences.
However, there are speculations that the couple staged the incident to boost their social media following.
