Venomous Australian snake found in child’s bed, attempting to blend in with stuffed animals (video)
A poisonous snake was captured on a child’s bed in an Australian residence, attempting to camouflage itself among the child’s stuffed toys.
The red-bellied black snake was located on Sunday morning, June 16, in the town of Jimboomba.
A startling video uploaded online showed Bryce Lockett, an employee at Snake Catchers Brisbane & Gold Coast, extracting the snake.
In the footage, he is seen leaning over the bed, moving a plush toy aside, and grabbing the snake near its tail.
“There it is,” Lockett remarked as the rest of the snake’s body squirmed.
Lockett then guided the snake into a long, enclosed net on the bedroom floor, gently touching its tail to coax it in before leaving with the reptile.
Red-bellied black snakes are commonly found along Australia’s east coast and—despite being venomous—are generally timid, only becoming aggressive when provoked, according to the Australian Museum.
