Sources, including one from law enforcement, say the rapper was attacked by another inmate in the prison yard and sustained injuries severe enough to require ambulance transport to a civilian hospital in Bakersfield.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear. The incident comes just days after Lanez shared a photo from behind bars, showcasing his physical fitness and teasing the release of new music.
Lanez is currently incarcerated for the 2020 shooting of fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion. Legal tensions between the two continue, as Megan has accused Lanez of orchestrating a smear campaign against her using bloggers and online platforms.
