Super Falcons Coach Randy Waldrum Blames Team’s Olympic Exit on Poor Preparation
Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has attributed the team’s exit from the women’s football event at the Paris 2024 Olympics to poor preparation.
Nigeria was eliminated in the group stage on Wednesday after a 3-1 defeat to Japan, having also lost their first two games against Brazil and Spain.
Speaking with ESPN, Waldrum said, “We prepared for them (all three opponents) based on the fact that we haven’t had a lot of time. We missed the last window before the Olympics, and so we missed 10 days of good training before the Olympics.”
It was reported that the Falcons’ preparations were hindered by visa issues, which prevented some of the invited players from arriving at camp early enough.
