South Africans Slam Singer Tyla for Supporting Miss SA Contestant Chidinma Adetshina
South Africans on social media are slamming singer Tyla after she tweeted in support of Chidinma Adetshina, a Nigerian model who recently withdrew from the Miss South Africa 2024 competition following questions about her nationality.
Chidinma, a 23-year-old law student, explained that her father is Nigerian, and her mother is South African with Mozambican roots. However, some South Africans questioned her citizenship and called for her removal from the pageant.
This led the South African Home Affairs to investigate Chidinma’s background, where they found that her mother might have used the identity of an “innocent” South African woman. Following this, Chidinma decided to withdraw from the competition.
In response to the backlash Chidinma received, South African singer Tyla expressed her love for her country but said she does not support bullying. Despite this, many South Africans criticized and slammed Tyla in the comments of her post.
