Sofia Vergara Hospitalized with Sudden Eye Issue, Skips 2025 Emmy Awards
Beloved actress and America’s Got Talent judge Sofia Vergara surprised fans this weekend after revealing she had to make an unexpected trip to the emergency room due to a sudden eye issue.
The 53-year-old was scheduled to attend and present at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards but was forced to cancel at the last minute. Instead of walking the red carpet, Vergara shared a candid update from a hospital bed via her Instagram account.
“Didn’t make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER. Sorry I had to cancel! Craziest eye allergy right before getting in the car!” she wrote, alongside a video of herself using a specialized medical rinse to soothe her irritated eye.
The post quickly sparked a wave of support from fellow celebrities and fans. Actor Terry Crews sent his well wishes, while Snoop Dogg reacted with praying hands emojis. Supermodel Linda Evangelista encouraged Vergara to consult a dermatologist, and messages of support also came in from DJ Diplo and Elizabeth Chambers.
Thankfully, the Modern Family star is now on the mend. She’s taking time to rest and recover, and is especially looking forward to celebrating her son Manolo’s 34th birthday this week.
