Nothing is worth taking your own life” – Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr announces his son DeAndre, 32, has committed suicide
American boxing icon Roy Jones Jr has shared the tragic news that his 32-year-old son, DeAndre, took his own life over the weekend.
In a sorrowful statement on Instagram, Jones Jr expressed his deep grief and gratitude for having spent the final night of DeAndre’s life with him.
“Unfortunately, my son DeAndre took his life on Saturday,” Jones wrote. “I am so thankful that God allowed me to come home Friday night to spend the last evening of his life with me and the family.
I know many people are experiencing difficult times right now, but nothing justifies ending your own life. God gives life, and only God should take it away.
Please respect our privacy as my family and I cope with this loss. Thank you for your love and support.”
DeAndre, born on July 1, 1992, was the youngest of three children Jones had with his wife Natlyn, following his older brothers Roy III and DeShaun. Authorities have not yet released any details about his death on Saturday. Jones, a former four-division world champion, is regarded as one of the greatest boxers in history.
