Nigerian clergyman, Prophet Okose, has claimed that sex before marriage is not a sin.
In a social media post, the former singer-turned-pastor argued that God never imposed a law forbidding premarital sex; rather, it was a rule created by man. He asserted that it is unrealistic to expect two people who are in love to maintain a relationship without being intimate.
He wrote:
“Call me a fake prophet if you wish, but I stand by this: sex before marriage is not a sin. God never gave that law—man did. Study your Bible carefully.
There are many practices among believers that originated from human suggestions, not God’s commandments. Even in the case of divorce, God expressed His hatred for it, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen.
We live in a generation of religiously confused leaders who have passed on their confusion to their congregations. Now, we have a multitude of confused people who think as their leaders do.
Tell me, how can you deeply love someone, have serious affection for each other, and expect that sex will not be involved?
Do you know how many people have vowed to abstain from sex before marriage, only to end up marrying someone who turns out to be completely wrong for them?
May God deliver this generation from confused leaders.”
