Man Accused of Decapitating Parents Sings After Being Shot by Police (Video)
Shocking footage captures a California man, accused of decapitating his parents and their dog, singing Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to Do With It” after being shot by police.
Orange County sheriff’s deputies discovered Joseph Gerdvil outside the San Juan Mobile Estates while responding to a horrific murder scene in San Juan Capistrano on July 9. Inside the mobile home, they found the headless bodies of his parents, 77-year-old Ronald Gerdvil and 79-year-old Antoinette Gerdvil, along with their mutilated dog. One of the heads was gruesomely displayed on a counter.
Authorities said Gerdvil was located shortly after the discovery, following an alleged attack on a maintenance worker. When police confronted him, he was covered in blood, babbling incoherently, and threw a heavy shovel at the officers.
Despite warnings to stand down, Gerdvil charged at the deputies, prompting one officer to fire five shots at him from about ten feet away. The first three bullets seemed to have little impact, but after the fourth, Gerdvil collapsed, bleeding profusely from his wounds.
As officers worked to slow the bleeding, Gerdvil’s behavior became even more bizarre. “I love you… I’m sorry you’re gonna have to die,” he muttered, followed by pleas for the officers to “finish me off” and “put one in my head, please. I beg of you.”
Amidst the chaos, Gerdvil began singing, first belting out lines from Tina Turner’s 1984 hit “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” and then switching to Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called to Say I Love You,” also from 1984.
Gerdvil was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was stabilized. He now faces two counts of homicide for the deaths of his parents.
