Lil Wayne’s Old Lyric Notebook on Sale for $5M After Legal Battle
Lil Wayne‘s lyric notebook is officially on sale with a hefty price tag after a lengthy legal battle over its ownership.
TMZ has learned that the rapper’s notebook from the ’90s is now being offered for $5 million, five years after it was first listed for $250,000.
Moments in Time, the company handling the sale, justified the significant price increase to TMZ, stating that Lil Wayne is one of the greatest rappers ever, making his handwritten lyrics extremely valuable.
This notebook’s journey to the market has been notable. In 2019, Moments in Time tried to sell the notebook on behalf of a man who claimed he found it in a car once owned by Cash Money Records.
Lil Wayne objected, demanding the return of his work, with his attorneys sending a cease and desist letter to Moments in Time. They argued that the company had no right to sell the lyrics and accused the man who found the notebook of lying and waiting for the right moment to profit.
The man fought back, invoking “finders-keepers” and asking the court to declare him the rightful owner. Despite the dispute, Lil Wayne did not respond, leading the court to rule against him.
Now, after years of legal wrangling, this piece of rap history could be yours—if you have the $5 million to purchase it.
