Juventus has announced Thiago Motta as their new head coach.
Juventus dismissed Maximiliano Allegri last month, shortly after he secured the Coppa Italia. Motta, a former player for the club, has now signed a three-year contract with the former European champions.
The decision to terminate Allegri’s contract followed Juventus’s Coppa Italia victory. Despite this achievement, Allegri’s second tenure at the club was plagued by inconsistent results and off-field issues. He was ejected for his conduct during the title decider against Atalanta, tearing off his tie and jacket in a fit of rage over a refereeing decision – behavior the club deemed incompatible with its values.
Motta left Bologna after his contract expired, having impressed Juventus officials by leading the underdog team to a Champions League spot through his tactical prowess.
“I am thrilled to start this new chapter with a prestigious club like Juventus. I extend my gratitude to the owners and management. They can count on my determination to uphold the Juventus legacy and satisfy the fans,” the coach stated on the club’s official website.
The contract is reportedly valued at €3.5 million per season, with bonuses potentially increasing it to €5 million.
