Jessie J Hospitalized Again With Lung Complications Weeks After Cancer Surgery
British singer Jessie J is back in the hospital just six weeks after undergoing surgery for breast cancer. The 37-year-old star revealed she was rushed in over the weekend after experiencing breathing difficulties and other concerning symptoms.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday, August 2, the singer posted a photo from her hospital bed, showing an IV in her hand. She told fans that she had been readmitted to the same ward she stayed in following her cancer operation.
“Six weeks post-surgery and I found myself back in the same hospital room totally unexpected,” she wrote.
Jessie explained that doctors initially feared a blood clot in her lungs, but after extensive testing, it was ruled out. Instead, she was diagnosed with an infection and a small amount of fluid on her lungs.
“I’m struggling to breathe deeply,” she added. “I discharged myself last night because I really don’t like being in hospital, but I’ll continue treatment as an outpatient.”
The singer opened up about the physical and emotional toll the recovery process has taken on her. She noted that while getting the all-clear from breast cancer was a huge relief, the healing journey has been anything but easy.
“Physically, the hardest part began the day I went into surgery,” Jessie shared. “Recovery has been slow and tough especially being a mom to a toddler. Not being able to fully care for my child has been the most challenging part.”
She also admitted she’s had to cancel or delay career plans due to her health, calling it “frustrating” but necessary.
Despite the setbacks, Jessie reminded herself and her fans to take it slow. “Even if I feel like I’m crawling at turtle speed right now, I have to be patient,” she wrote.
The star continues to recover at home and has yet to announce when she’ll return to performing.
