Jessica Alba Reflects on Challenges in Marriage with Cash Warren Before Split
Jessica Alba opened up about the difficulties she and Cash Warren faced during their 17-year marriage, just months before reports surfaced of their separation.
On Wednesday, January 8, TMZ reported that the couple had recently split and were moving toward divorce.
In a candid interview with Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt on the BDA Baby podcast in April 2024, the 43-year-old actress shared insights into their relationship.
“It’s all rosy for 2.5 years, but then after that, you become roommates,” Alba explained. “And it’s just, like, you’re roommates. You’re just going through the motions. It’s the responsibility. It’s a lot of, like, checking the boxes.”
Alba and Warren, 45, met in 2004 on the Vancouver set of Fantastic Four, where Alba starred as Sue Storm and Warren worked as the director’s assistant. They married in May 2008 and share three children: Honor, 16, Haven, 13, and Hayes, 5.
During the podcast, Alba revealed that her first two pregnancies with daughters Honor and Haven were unexpected, while her son Hayes was planned.
The actress also admitted that while they initially prioritized weekly date nights, those habits eventually faded. “We were good about keeping date nights on the calendar, but then it stops, because of whatever,” she said.
She reflected on the dynamics of their relationship, noting how comfort and familiarity can sometimes lead to taking one another for granted. “We have the friendship, the comfort of, like, ‘you’re not going anywhere,’ and so sometimes you don’t treat those people the best. You don’t consider their feelings in the way you would with others,” she said.
Alba acknowledged that maintaining a strong relationship takes effort. “It’s a constant thing to work on,” she said, adding humorously, “If you’ve figured it out in your relationship, let me know.”
