Jay-Z’s Alleged Son Abruptly Drops Lawsuit Says “It’s Chess, Not Checkers”
Rymir Satterthwaite, the man who has spent years claiming to be Jay-Z’s secret son, has suddenly withdrawn his federal lawsuit against the billionaire rapper.
The 30-year-old aspiring musician made the announcement in a video posted to Instagram on July 27, revealing that he voluntarily pulled the case despite still believing Jay-Z fathered him during a secret affair with his late mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, back in the ’90s.
“I did withdraw my case,” Rymir said. “But I have not stopped my fight. There’s a lot going on behind closed doors… We got to step back and play chess, not checkers.”
Rymir had previously filed a federal lawsuit against Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter), accusing him of fraud, manipulation of legal systems, and interfering with due process all to suppress Rymir’s paternity claim.
This is not about child support,” Rymir clarified in his complaint. “This is about emotional distress, reputational damage, and the injustice I’ve faced trying to be heard.
But Jay-Z’s legal team strongly denied the allegations. In court documents filed June 16, his attorneys described Rymir’s claims as fabricated and part of a “decades-long harassment campaign.”
They added that similar claims had already been dismissed in multiple courts and accused Rymir of not properly serving Jay-Z with the federal complaint.
“Mr. Carter had no knowledge of the lawsuit until a month after it was filed,” the lawyers stated, asking the court for more time to assess the claims and respond accordingly.
Jay-Z, who shares three children with his wife Beyoncé daughter Blue Ivy, 13, and 8-year-old twins Rumi and Sir has never publicly acknowledged Rymir.
Though the legal battle may be paused for now, Rymir made it clear: his mission is far from over.
