J Lo & Ben Affleck’s Divorce Turns Complicated with Major Assets at Stake
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s divorce is spiraling into a messy and complex ordeal, with significant assets hanging in the balance, according to TMZ.
The crux of the issue lies in the absence of a prenuptial agreement. With no prenup in place, everything the couple accumulated during their roughly two-year marriage is considered community property, meaning it must be split evenly. However, the division is far from straightforward.
One of the most contentious assets is Ben’s highly successful production company, Artists Equity (AE), which he co-founded with his longtime friend, Matt Damon. Since the company was established in November 2022—four months after Ben and J Lo got married—Ben’s stake in AE is likely subject to division as community property. This could potentially entangle Damon in the divorce proceedings due to his significant involvement in the company.
This means that J Lo may be entitled to a portion of the profits from AE’s recent and upcoming films, including hits like “Air,” “Unstoppable,” “The Instigators,” “Small Things Like These,” and “The Accountant 2.”

On the other hand, J Lo has been working on major projects of her own, such as “Atlas,” “This Is Me… Now,” “The Mother,” “Shotgun Wedding,” and “Marry Me.” Ben could similarly claim a financial interest in these ventures.
The couple also shares ownership of a Beverly Hills mansion, currently on the market, with a $20 million mortgage attached to it. So far, there hasn’t been much interest in the property.
TMZ initially reported that J Lo filed for divorce from Ben last week, following months of trying to reach a settlement. Sources reveal that negotiations have become increasingly contentious, with periods where the two were not even on speaking terms.
As a side note, this marks J Lo’s fourth marriage and Ben’s second. Both have children from previous marriages, but none together.
