I’m not ready to retire or leave football soon,” said Lionel Messi.
Lionel Messi, the star of Inter Miami and the Argentina national team, has revealed that he has no immediate plans to step away from football.
The legendary player, who will turn 37 on June 24, mentioned that Inter Miami will be his final club. However, he hasn’t set a specific retirement date yet.
“I’ve been doing this my entire life; I love playing football. I enjoy the training, the day-to-day routine, and the matches. Yes, there’s some fear that it’s all coming to an end. It’s always there. It was a tough decision to leave Europe and come to Miami,” Messi shared in an interview with ESPN Argentina on Wednesday, June 12.
“Winning the World Cup helped a lot; it made me see things differently. But I try not to dwell on it. I focus on enjoying the moment. I do that more now because I know there isn’t much time left.
“So, I make the most of my time with the club, feeling fortunate to have good teammates and friends around me. I also cherish my moments with the national team, where I have good friends as well.
“I appreciate those small details that I know I’ll miss once I stop playing.”
