Lionel Messi, the star of Inter Miami and Argentina, has credited his achievements in football to God. Currently participating in the Copa América in the US at 37 years old, Messi expressed his belief that his talent is a divine gift.
“It’s clear to me that I was born this way because God chose me. It was a gift he bestowed upon me,” he shared with podcaster Juan Pablo Varsky.
“I’ve always been different. People came to see me play. I didn’t realize it at first, but I started to understand it as I grew older.”
“While I certainly tried to make the most of my talent and maximize it, the truth is, I didn’t do anything special to become the player I was when I was young.”
