Halle Bailey Seeks Full Custody of Son, Accuses DDG of Abuse and Dangerous Behavior
Actress and singer Halle Bailey has officially filed for sole custody of her 16-month-old son, Halo, claiming that the child’s father, DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.), poses a potential threat to their safety.
According to legal documents submitted to the court, the Little Mermaid star is seeking full legal and physical custody, asking that DDG only be allowed supervised visits through a professional service, once a week for six hours while in Los Angeles.
Bailey expressed serious concerns about DDG’s behavior, citing a history of emotional and physical abuse, threats of child abduction, and refusal to cooperate in parenting matters. She claimed that he has previously tried to hide or take their son without consent, and that she fears for Halo’s safety during visits.
In a chilling account from January, Bailey recalled an intense altercation where DDG allegedly began shouting profanities, pulled her hair, and slammed her face into the steering wheel, chipping her tooth. She stated that during the struggle, her son was crying and she felt “trapped and unsafe.”
To prevent further incidents, Bailey is asking the court to restrict DDG from traveling with Halo without her written consent, and to surrender all travel documents for the child. She has also requested that if travel is permitted, DDG must submit his full itinerary, including round-trip tickets and contact information.
A temporary restraining order was granted on May 13, legally barring DDG from coming within 100 yards of both Bailey and their son, including their home, vehicle, and Halo’s school.
The court hearing is scheduled for June 4, where the judge will determine if the custody request and restraining order will be made permanent.
Bailey and DDG began dating in 2022 but reportedly broke up earlier this year. She concluded her court statement saying:
