Gunmen Assault Ogbaru Local Government Headquarters
In the early hours of Saturday, June 15, unidentified gunmen attacked the Ogbaru Local Government Area Headquarters Secretariat.
The attack led to the destruction of four patrol vehicles belonging to local vigilantes but, fortunately, resulted in no casualties.
Confirming the incident, police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga reported that preliminary information revealed the attackers arrived in large numbers on motorcycles and a vehicle, firing indiscriminately. Vigilante Operatives put up strong resistance until the police response team arrived. The superior firepower of the security operatives forced the gunmen to flee. Unfortunately, four patrol vehicles were set ablaze and severely damaged.
In response, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations led a joint security force, including the Army, Navy, and other security agencies, to the scene for an immediate assessment. Ongoing operations are being conducted to apprehend the perpetrators.
