Florida Mother Charged with Child Abuse After Allegedly Assisting Daughter in Fight
A Florida mother, Kathryn Stephanopoulos, 34, has been arrested and charged with child abuse after she allegedly intervened in a fight between her daughter and another teenager at a bus stop. The incident, which was caught on video and has since gone viral, shows Stephanopoulos allegedly assisting her daughter during the altercation.
In the video, Stephanopoulos can be seen stepping in as her daughter fights another girl. Instead of breaking up the fight, she allegedly put the other teenager in a headlock, allowing her daughter to continue landing punches.
The situation escalated further when a bystander intervened, pulling Stephanopoulos off the high school student. Amid the chaos, Stephanopoulos was struck with a Stanley cup, but the altercation continued.
Reports indicate that tensions between the two teens had been building since a falling out over the summer, leading to the confrontation when school resumed last week. Stephanopoulos’ daughter had reportedly informed her mother about the planned fight at the bus stop, which led to the mother’s involvement.
Stephanopoulos was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse. She was later released on a $1,000 bond and has reportedly expressed regret for her actions.
Her daughter, whose identity has not been disclosed, may face misdemeanor charges. The other teenager involved in the fight has been arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery.
