Everton Sack Sean Dyche After Poor Premier League Form
Everton have parted ways with manager Sean Dyche following a dismal run of results that saw the team win just one of their last 11 Premier League matches, leaving them perilously close to the relegation zone.
The Toffees currently sit 16th in the league, just one point above the drop zone, and failed to register a single shot on target during their latest 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday. This marked their eighth league loss of the season, with the team failing to score in eight of their last 10 games.
In a statement, the club confirmed that former players Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman would oversee the team for Thursday’s FA Cup third-round tie against Peterborough.
The statement read:
*”Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Men’s First Team Manager with immediate effect.
[Coaches] Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard, and Billy Mercer have also left the Club.
The process to appoint a new Manager is underway, and an update will be provided in due course.
Under-18s Head Coach Leighton Baines and Club Captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis.”*
Dyche’s departure comes just weeks after U.S.-based Friedkin Group completed its takeover of the club. Executive chairman Marc Watts expressed the ownership group’s ambition for Everton’s future, stating they were “committed to leading Everton into an exciting new era both on and off the pitch.”
