Enraged Traveler Destroys American Airlines Counter with Hammer (Video)
A furious traveler was caught on video smashing an American Airlines counter with a hammer at Santiago’s Nuevo Pudahuel Airport in Chile, after discovering that he had been sold a fake plane ticket by a scammer.
The incident occurred late Monday, August 26, when the Haitian man, who was set to fly to Miami, Florida, before continuing to Haiti, was informed by an airline employee that he couldn’t board the flight. This news sent him into a rage.
Footage captured by onlookers shows the construction worker rummaging through his work bag before pulling out a hammer. He then climbed behind the counter, shouting angrily, and began smashing several mounted TV screens and computer monitors.
Authorities estimated the damage caused at approximately $20,000. The man was eventually detained by airport security and handed over to the police.
An American Airlines spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that local authorities were called to handle a “disruptive individual” in the airport lobby. “We thank our team for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
