The EFCC is set to bring Cubana Chief Priest, a well-known Instagram figure and bar owner, Pascal Okechukwu, to court for misusing the Nigerian currency.
He’s accused of unlawfully handling and spraying Naira at a social gathering, breaching the Central Bank Act of 2007.
Per a Channels TV report, Cubana Chief Priest will face charges on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court, Lagos.
In a charge filed on April 4th by EFFC’s prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), alongside seven other attorneys representing the Commission’s chairman, it’s alleged that Okechukwu Pascal tampered with N500 notes at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024, during a dance event, contravening Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.
In Count 2, he’s accused of similar actions in Lagos in 2020, and in Count 3, in January 2024, both violating the same section of the Act.
Recently, the EFCC also levied charges against the controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, for comparable offenses.
