Dad Proposes to 20-Year-Old Daughter with Purity Ring, Sparks Online Debate (Video)
A father recently stirred up controversy online after presenting his 20-year-old daughter with a purity ring in an unconventional manner.
Patrick, along with his daughter Sarah, are Christian content creators known for sharing videos about their faith and father-daughter relationship under the username @justadadandhisladybug.
In a video that has since gone private, Patrick surprised his followers by showing his pride in Sarah for remaining “pure” throughout her life. He decided to give her a purity ring in a way that resembled a marriage proposal.
In the video, Patrick explained that while it wasn’t a real proposal, he wanted to make the moment special. He then walked into Sarah’s room, asked her to stand up, and got down on one knee to present the ring.
“You’re 20 years old, and most kids your age are not pure,” Patrick said, expressing his appreciation for her commitment to purity.
He continued, “Sarah, will you wear this ring as a sign and a promise to God and to me to remain pure until the day you’re married?”
Sarah agreed, admiring the ring and saying, “That’s gorgeous.” Patrick placed the ring on her left hand, traditionally reserved for engagement rings, and told her to wear it there until her future husband replaced it with a wedding ring.
