Chris Brown Released on £5 Million Bail After Allegedly Smashing Man with Tequila Bottle in UK Club
American singer Chris Brown has been released on a £5 million bail after being accused of a violent nightclub attack in London.
The court allowed Brown to go free on Wednesday, May 21, but ordered him to give up his passport when he’s not traveling for his Breezy Bowl XX Tour, which starts on June 8. He paid £4 million right away, with the remaining £1 million due within a week.
Brown, who hasn’t yet entered a plea, was arrested on May 15 at a hotel in Manchester. Officials said he was taken into custody over an alleged assault that happened in February 2023.
Prosecutors claim Brown hit music promoter Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle during an unprovoked attack at a nightclub.
Another man, Omololu Akinlolu (also known as HoodyBaby), who is a friend and fellow musician, was also charged with causing serious injury during the same incident.
Brown was first denied bail on May 16 and was set to stay in custody until June 13. That decision put his tour in danger, which features artists like Summer Walker and Bryson Tiller.
Now, with bail granted, his next court appearance is scheduled for June 20 at Southwark Crown Court. This date falls between two of his UK concerts: one in Cardiff on June 19 and another in London on June 21.
