Chicago Drive-By Horror: Rapper Mello Buckzz’s Boyfriend & 3 Friends Killed in Mass Shooting Outside Album Party
Tragedy struck the Chicago music scene Wednesday night as rapper Mello Buckzz’s album release celebration turned into a bloodbath, leaving four dead and 14 others injured in a shocking drive-by shooting.
The chilling attack happened just after 11 PM on West Chicago Avenue, right outside Artis Lounge, where Mello Buckzz was hosting a private event for her new EP, HollyHood. What was supposed to be a career milestone quickly turned into one of the deadliest mass shootings in the city this year.
According to police, an unknown gunman opened fire on the crowd, then sped off — leaving behind a trail of blood, chaos, and heartbreak. Surveillance footage circulating online captures a vehicle creeping past the scene before multiple rapid gunshots erupt, sparking terror and confusion.
Among the four victims killed were Mello Buckzz’s boyfriend, her “brother” figure, and two women she described as close family known as TayyTayy and @avi_gorgeous on Instagram.
In a raw and emotional post just hours after the shooting, Mello poured her heart out on Instagram:
“I was holding his hand… until I couldn’t anymore.”
The rapper, known for her viral hit “Move”, said her heart is shattered beyond repair and that she never imagined losing so many loved ones in a single night.
Police confirmed 14 others were injured, with three women in critical condition:
– A 24-year-old shot in the back
– A 25-year-old hit in the leg
– A 21-year-old woman struck in the mouth
As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
Despite the unimaginable loss, Mello’s new EP HollyHood was released Thursday but under a cloud of grief that’s shaken the entire community.
