Billy Ray Cyrus fights back against estranged wife Firerose’s accusations of psychological abuse.
Billy Ray Cyrus has responded to accusations from his estranged wife, Firerose, who claimed he subjected her to psychological abuse and left her just before her scheduled double mastectomy.
The 62-year-old country artist has filed new legal documents, countering her allegations by stating that Firerose deceived him about her identity and real surname, as reported by TMZ.
Cyrus revealed that he became doubtful about Firerose’s background and the surname she provided. His legal team subsequently uncovered her previous undisclosed divorce and her legal last name.
Furthermore, Cyrus accused Firerose of alienating him from one of his daughters—whose identity he did not specify—and of meddling in his personal affairs with malicious intent.
After only seven months of marriage, Cyrus filed for divorce from 37-year-old Firerose on May 23, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ and ‘inappropriate marital conduct’ as the reasons for their separation.
Cyrus also alleges that Firerose sought to leverage his name to advance her own music career.
Conversely, Firerose claimed that Cyrus subjected her to verbal and emotional abuse after she disclosed her need for a double mastectomy, alleging a shift in his behavior thereafter, according to TMZ.
She stated that Cyrus initially promised to cover the cost, but she was left scrambling for funds when he filed for divorce.
Firerose described the period leading up to her recommended double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery in March as ‘chaotic.’ A carrier of the BRCA1 gene mutation, she further alleged that Cyrus ‘constantly verbally assaulted’ her, confining her to ‘an emotional and psychological prison.’
In her complaint, Firerose mentioned that when she voiced concerns, Cyrus would frequently call her a ‘selfish f**king b**ch’ and accuse her of exploiting him.
Firerose claimed that less than 24 hours before her surgery, Cyrus filed for divorce, and his brother and sister-in-law banged on her bedroom door for over three hours, demanding she leave their shared home.
She complied and decided to postpone her surgery indefinitely as she lost her permanent residence and was depending on Cyrus’ health insurance and prior promises to pay for her procedure.
Firerose is seeking alimony and has accused Cyrus of deliberately trying to sabotage her career ‘out of retaliation.’
Her complaint also stated that due to years of verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse, and her husband’s direct interference with her income and future opportunities, she has suffered severe emotional distress, requiring emergency therapy sessions on multiple occasions.
Cyrus’ lawyers have denied Firerose’s allegations.
In a statement, Cyrus’ legal team expressed regret that Ms. Hodges chose to litigate their brief marriage publicly, leaving Cyrus with no choice but to clarify the record. They noted that her claims are particularly perplexing given that she pleaded for reconciliation just two days after he filed for divorce.
Cyrus’ representatives further noted that upon returning home two days after Ms. Hodges was ordered by the court to vacate, he found a handwritten note from her expressing love and a desire to reunite.
The attorneys concluded that if Cyrus were guilty of the allegations, it is baffling why Firerose would wish to return to him and seek another chance to explain her actions.
Representatives for Cyrus reiterated that Firerose’s claims are dubious, considering she begged for forgiveness and a second chance two days after the divorce filing, as reported by DailyMail.com.
