Angie Harmon’s Daughter Arrested in North Carolina for Alleged Nightclub Break-In
Avery Sehorn, 18, daughter of Angie Harmon and ex-husband Jason Sehorn, was arrested shortly after her high school graduation for allegedly breaking into a nightclub in North Carolina.
On Thursday, June 6, Avery was taken into custody after the owner of a Charlotte nightclub accused her and two 17-year-old boys of breaking into the establishment and stealing alcohol, according to local outlet WCCB.
Court documents obtained by PEOPLE indicate that Avery allegedly broke into World Nightclub in Charlotte on Wednesday, June 5, and stole six bottles of liquor valued at $500.
Fox News, citing an incident report, reported that the break-in occurred around 11:30 p.m. PEOPLE’s arrest records show Avery was arrested just after midnight.
The nightclub owner told WCCB that Avery and the two boys entered through a back door, hid behind the bar, and stole the liquor. They were discovered by cleaning crews and attempted to flee but were later apprehended by police. The incident was captured by security cameras.
Avery faces charges of felony breaking and entering, as well as larceny, according to court documents. She was released on June 6 after signing a written promise to return for her court date on June 28 at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Harmon’s attorney George V. Laughrun II said, “Ms. Harmon respects and believes in the criminal justice system. She is looking forward to her daughter’s day in court so that the real truth can be told from individuals who were eyewitnesses to the events.”
“They and their counsel are confident that the truth will be forthcoming and again are looking ahead to show actual facts about what occurred, not conclusions and conjecture from outside sources,” the statement continued. “We will be making no further comment until our day in court and ask that everyone respect their privacy.”
Charlotte police did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Previously, Avery graduated from high school on June 2. Harmon expressed her pride in an Instagram post featuring Avery in her cap and gown with her two sisters, Finley Faith, 20, and Emery Hope, 15. Angie Harmon and Jason Sehorn split in 2014.
“We are all immensely proud of you, Avery!” Harmon wrote. “You have overcome & conquered & excelled to shine brightly with the stars! Remember to leave every place better than you found it. We are all so excited to see what God has planned for you!”
Earlier this year, Angie Harmon made headlines when her dog Oliver was shot and killed by an Instacart delivery driver on March 30. Following the incident, Harmon filed a lawsuit against Instacart and the driver for trespassing, negligence, and invasion of privacy, among other claims. She described the pain of losing Oliver as “unfathomable” in an interview with PEOPLE.
“I’m still bawling and crying. I can feel myself shaking. It’s difficult — unfathomable — but we can’t just sit back and do nothing. We can’t just sit by and take our rebate from Instacart and say, ‘Okay, thank you.’ This is like a public service announcement,” she said. “I mean, people need to know that this is what could happen.”
