A Heartbreaking Conclusion: Kennedy Family Condemns RFK Jr’s Trump Endorsement After Dropping Out of Presidential Race
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy and the son of Bobby Kennedy, who was assassinated while running for president, has endorsed Republican nominee Donald Trump after suspending his independent presidential campaign. This decision has drawn harsh criticism from his own family.
The Kennedy family has expressed deep disappointment, calling RFK Jr.’s endorsement of Trump a “betrayal” of their core values.
RFK Jr., who is 70 years old, announced that he would be withdrawing his name from the ballot in key battleground states where his presence might act as a spoiler, stating, “In about 10 battleground states where my presence would be a spoiler, I’m going to remove my name, and I’ve already started the process.”
RFK Jr. explained that the Democratic Party no longer aligns with the principles he grew up with, criticizing their departure from “champions of the constitution.” He cited issues such as free speech, the war in Ukraine, and what he called “a war on our children” as motivations for his decision to support Trump.
During a news conference in Arizona, he praised his campaign team for achieving the “miracle” of making him a presidential candidate, yet expressed regret, saying, “In an honest system, I would have won the election.”
His decision was met with a public statement from his siblings, who expressed their dismay, stating: “We want an America filled with hope and bound together by a shared vision of a brighter future, a future defined by individual freedom, economic promise, and national pride. We believe in Harris and Walz. Our brother Bobby’s decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear. It is a sad ending to a sad story.”
Donald Trump, who is making his third bid for the presidency, responded to RFK Jr.’s endorsement by saying: “It’s an honour.”
