A 15-year-old Mississippi girl attempted to murder her sleeping mother, believing her mother was ‘suppressing the black in her.’
A Mississippi teenager is being detained in an adult jail after trying to kill her mother. Lexi Jade Brown assaulted her mother while she slept in an incident seemingly driven by occult beliefs.
The attack occurred in the early morning of June 14 on Dee Avenue in rural Gulfport, close to a large wooded area.
The Gulfport Police Department stated that Brown is charged with attempted murder and first-degree arson.
Police responded to a stabbing call at 2:33 a.m. and discovered Brown’s mother with multiple stab wounds.
The mother told police she was sleeping when her daughter attacked her. After defending herself, the mother reported her daughter tried to set the house on fire.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, and her current condition is unknown. Brown admitted to planning the attack for a while, calling her mother a “weird b**ch” and alleging she was “suppressing the black in her,” according to police.
The investigation is ongoing. Brown is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center with a bond of $1.25 million, set by District 5 Justice Court Judge Nick Patano.
