Woman Found Beheaded and Stuffed in Suitcase After Hotel Meetup Goes Wrong in Italy
A horrifying murder in Italy has shocked the nation a 30-year-old woman was found beheaded and hidden inside a suitcase near an abandoned farmhouse in Tuscany.
The victim, Maria Denisa Paun, had been missing since May 15 after disappearing from her home in Prato. Nearly three weeks later, her remains were discovered in Montecatini Terme, not far from Florence.
Police arrested Vasile Frumuzache, a 32-year-old Romanian security guard, who confessed to the brutal killing. He allegedly told investigators he met Paun who worked as an escort through a dating app and arranged to meet her at a hotel.
According to his statement, she threatened to expose their affair to his wife unless he paid her over $11,000. He then claimed he strangled her, beheaded her with a knife, set her head on fire, and stuffed her body into a garbage bag and suitcase.
Surveillance footage from the night shows him entering the hotel with a black bag and later leaving with Paun’s white suitcase, which he put in his car. GPS data from his vehicle later led police to the spot where her body was dumped.
The gruesome case has stunned locals and gone viral across Italy, with many calling it one of the most disturbing crimes in recent memory.
