27-year-old mom admits she was too eager for a relationship and failed to stop her boyfriend from beating her 5-year-old son to death
On July 24, 2022, a couple staying at an extended-stay hotel in San Antonio experienced a devastating incident. Garcia, in a fit of rage, threw Dominic, their child, against a wall so hard that the boy “bounced” off it and collapsed on the floor. According to Aguilar, when Dominic got up, he vomited a dark substance and tragically passed away within a few hours.
Security cameras at the hotel later showed Garcia carrying Dominic’s lifeless body to their car.
Instead of calling 911, they decided to drive to Colorado, where they camped in a remote area. There, they buried Dominic before fleeing to Florida. Aguilar eventually helped authorities find her son’s body, which was discovered in a ravine near the campsite.
During the investigation, Aguilar admitted that she didn’t stop the abuse because she was desperate to stay in the relationship.
“A parent’s job is to protect their child, but Dominic’s mother did nothing as she watched him suffer and die at the hands of her boyfriend,” said Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales. “Nickolle Aguilar failed her son, but in his memory, and with the help of law enforcement, we’ve worked to hold her accountable.”
Daniel Garcia is due for sentencing on August 14 and could face a life sentence.
