15-Year-Old Girl Decapitated by Power Cable While Taking Rooftop Selfies
A distressing video captures the moment a 15-year-old girl in Guatemala was decapitated by a power cable while taking selfies with friends on a rooftop.
Débora Rebeca Xi Artola was on the roof in La Tinta on Thursday, August 1, with three friends. They were practicing dance moves when she accidentally came into contact with a high-tension power cable. The shock, estimated to be thousands of volts, likely killed her instantly, according to El Heraldo.
Footage shows onlookers below rushing towards the building as her body initially rested on the cable, surrounded by smoke. They watched in horror as her head detached, causing her to fall about 20 feet to the pavement below.
Débora’s grieving mother, Andrea Xi, posted a heartfelt tribute to her daughter on Facebook, including a photo from her quinceañera in March. “I love you forever, my princess,” one post read. “My first and great love,” another added.
Authorities are investigating the incident to confirm it was an accident.
